League Cup Quarter-Final
Both quarter-final ties in the League Cup went to form with High Noon
overcoming Heeley FC away from home 5-1 with goals from Reid 3, Hill and Rippon
with Heeley’s reply from Statham. In the other semi Hackenthorpe A overcame
Ridgeway Athletic by a 6-1 margin with a sterling performance from Dixon who
got four goals and also Nolan who got two. Ridgeway’s consolation was through
Charlesworth.
This sets up the semi-final ties which are being played at Sandygate, home
of Hallam FC, the first on 25th March will be between High Noon and
Handsworth Turf Tavern and the other on 1st April between
Hackenthorpe A and Royal Earl, both games kick-off at 11.00 am.
Under 21 League Cup Quarter-final
Sharrow United U21 had a resounding win over Dronfield Athletic at Parson
Cross Park 4-1. Goals from Hal-Hakem 2 and Dada 2 gave Sharrow victory and a
semi-final tie away to Carlton Social.
Premier Division
With Hackenthorpe A top of the table playing in the League Cup
Quarter-final it made for catch up with the other teams in the division. Royal
Earl took advantage of the situation to move within three points with a 2-1
away win at Warminster Road against White Hart Greenhill. Goals from Schofield
and Turner secured victory with a reply from Lees for the home side. Meanwhile
at Thornbridge Playing Fields Handsworth Turf Tavern secure an impressive away
win over Packhorse Inn 5-1 with goals for Handsworth coming from Allen 2,
Greenfield, Turner and Ellis.
Division One
A 3-0 win for Arundel ESC over HSBC consolidated their position at the top
of the table and extended the points difference to six points. Goals from
Spooner, Roper and Martin secured the win and hopefully for Arundel a quick
return back to the top flight. An impressive 3-1 away win for Arbourthorne EA B
at the HSBC ground against Brunsmeer Abbey AJW who are in second place with
goals from Cartledge 2 1 pen and Stewart with Parry scoring for Brunsmeer. This
moves Arbourthorne B away from the bottom and gives them a bit of breathing
space. Fourth places Jack-in-a-Box lost a bit of ground on the top with a 2-0
defeat at Chaucer Centre against Wadsley Bridge WMC who pull three points up on
the visits with a brace of goals from Pearce.
Division Two
Congratulations must go to Mosborough B with only their second victory of
the season, this one being against Hackenthorpe Villa who were in mid-table.
Goals from Potts and Peelo secured the win with a reply from Seville for Villa.
Despite this Mosborough B still remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Winn
Gardens moved closer to Rawson Spring’s who game was abandoned because of a
serious injury against Hackenthorpe B with a 5-2 win over Penistone Church.
Goals from Reid 3, Richardson and Davenport with Penistone’s replies from Brown
a penalty and one from prolific scorer Council.
Under 21
A resounding win for Dronfield Town U21 against Mosborough U21 by 5-2 with
goals from Pugh 2, Hurst, Shaw and Mowby. Dronfield are now well on course for
a championship in their first season in the league.
Supplementary Division
Greasbrough U21 continued their impressive displays in the new inaugurated
Supplementary division with their second victory this time over Barrel FC away
by 4-0 putting them four points clear of their vaquished foes. A hat-trick from
Ledger and a goal from Wilkinson secured the victory. In the other game Norton
Oaks B opened their account with a 4-2 victory over Staffordshire Arms. Goals
from Raynes, Thorn, Hersee and Bowerbank for Oaks were replied to by Lowton and
Hayes for Staffordshire.
