29/4 Round-up


Bad weather also impended the Meadowhall League's end to the season. Half of the weeks scheduled fixtures were cancelled.

A cup final did take place on though! Rawson Spring retained the Tinsley Trophy on Tuesday night, when they beat fellow Second Division outfit Penistone Church 1-0.

The first half was very even, with both temas hitting the woodwork. Jack Poulton was on hand in the second-half to volley-in from close range at the back post, and that was enough to settle a tight game in Rawson Spring's favour.

It was a big day on Thursday in Division One. Brunsmeer Abbey pulled three points clear at the top of the league, when they beat Wadsley Bridge WMC 5-1 at HSBC Sports Club. Wesley Hill chipped in wih two goals for Brunsmeer.

The bottom two sides, Intake Ball Inn and Beighton magpies also met at Warminster Road. Intake took the points with a 4-1 victory to move four points clear of their opposition.

Darryl Parkin scored five goals, as Hackenthorpe Villa heaped the more misery on bottom-of-the-league Mosborough B. Mark Reid also scored twice, with Hackenthorpe registering a fantastic 8-2 win.

Elsewhere, Glen Greene and Adam Wragg both scored as Third Division winners Woodhouse Juniors beat second placed Carlton Social 2-1.
