Round-up 15/12

There was a reduced league fixture list this week, as there were a number of the league's sides taking part in County FA cup competitions.

Premier Division
There was just one fixture in the Premier Division with Sharrow United hosting Hackenthorpe A at Warminster Road. Sharrow United took the points with a 2-1 win. Delano Stewart-Jones and Watheq Al-Hakem scored the goals for Sharrow.

Division One
Hackenthorpe B closed in on leaders High Noon, following their 2-1 home win over third placed Hurlfield. Hackenthorpe are now within three points of the leaders, but they have played two games more than their rivals.

Two goals from 20 year old Joe Lancashire was enough to help Intake Ball Inn to their first league win of the season. Intake were 3-2 winners at Warminster Road over HSBC. Intake remain bottom though, as second bottom Penistone Church claimed a point at HSBC Sports, with a 1-1 draw with City Taxis.

Packhorse Inn made it five games unbeaten in the league, with a comfortable 4-0 away win over Concord. Packhorse are only four points off second place, with four games spare.

Division Two
Mosborough registered their fourth straight home league win, after a 2-1 win over Wadsley. Mosborough are now second in the league, seven points off the pace, with two games in hand.

U21 Division
League leaders Sheffield United Junior Blades U21 were once again in the goals at East End Park. This time they were 9-4 victors over Mosborough U21. The Blades stretch their lead to a massive 20 points at the top.

Sharrow United U21 were in second pace at the beginning of the weekend, but they were defeated 5-3 by Brampton Dynamos U21 at Wales High School. Brunsmeer U21 take Sharrow United U21's second placed position, they were 4-1 winners over Crosspool U21 at Whirlow Playing Fields.

Ash Sellers starred for Abbey Lane U21. Sellers scored a hat-trick, as Abbey Lane beat Swallownest U21 6-2 at the Boundary Club.

Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 claimed their second point of the season. They held Wisewood Hounds U21 to an exciting 3-3 draw at Parsons Cross Park. Hackenthorpe's previous point this season also came in a 3-3 draw, but against Brampton Dynamos U21.

Premier Division

Rawson Spring were held to their third consecutive draw in the Premier Division. They drew 1-1 at the Civil Service Ground with Hackenthorpe A. The slip-up allowed Royal Earl the chance to jump over them into top spot. That they did winning 5-3 away against Sharrow United. The Earl go a point clear, but they have played three games more than their rivals.

Arundel worked hard to claim a 2-1 away win over Crookes at Warminster Road. The win takes Arundel up one place into third –bottom.

Steven Brammer scored the only goal to give Handsworth Turf Tavern a 1-0 home win over The Devonshire. The win is Handsworth’s fourth in the last five league games, and takes them to fourth place in the table, only goal differences keeps them below The Devonshire.

Brunsmeer Abbey AJW made it three wins from their last four league games, with a 2-0 win over  Wadsley Bridge WMC at Chaucer Sports Centre.

Division One

High Noon extended their lead at the top of the First Division to five points, with a comprehensive 4-1 away win over Jack-in-a-Box. High Noon have scored 32 goals in their last four league games, winning them all.

Darren Richardson scored a hat-trick for Concord, to help them to a 4-2 away win over mid-table HSBC. Concord remain in third place, five points off the lead.

Matthew Eaton scored both goals for Hackenthorpe B, in their 2-1 win over Penistone Church at the Swallownest Miners Welfare Ground.

Packhorse Inn heaped more woe on struggling Intake Ball Inn, beating them 4-1 at Thorncliffe Playing Fields. Intake have lost all 10 of their opening league games.

Division Two

Brett Morley scored a hat-trick for Ridgeway Athletic, as they beat Woodhouse West End 4-1 at Ridgeway Sports and Social Club. The win takes Ridgeway 10 points clear at the top of the Second Division.

U21 Division

Another week and it is another win for league leaders Sheffield United Junior Blades U21. This time the Blades were 4-2 winners away against second placed Sharrow United U21. The win over their closest rivals takes the Blades 18 points clear at the top-of-the-table, but Sharrow do have three games spare.

Thomas Oakes was on target four times for Crosspool U21, as they beat Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 5-2 at Waterthorpe Playing Fields.

Brampton Dynamos U21 beat Wisewood Hounds U21 5-1 at Wales High School to take themselves into a comfortable mid-table position. Brampton have certainly been entertaining to watch this season, with 65 goals scored for and against in their eight league games this season.

Round-up 1/12

League Cup 1^st Round

There was one outstanding round one game on Sunday, with The Devonshire winning 5-1 away against Wisewood Hounds U21. The Devonshire will now play away against High Noon in the second round.

League Cup 3^rd Round

Last years’ Cup finalists Hackenthorpe booked their place in round four, with a comprehensive 5-1 win over HSBC at Swallownest Miners Welfare Ground.

Handsworth Turf Tavern translated their recent impressive league form in to the cup on Sunday, as they beat SWD 5-0 at Davy Sports Club. Handsworth have won their last three league games on top of this result.

Extra time was needed to separate Hurlfield and Intake Ball Inn in the all Division One affair at the SWD Ground. In the end Ryan Smith proved to be the difference, scoring all three goals for Hurlfield in a 3-2 win.

Brunsmeer FC U21 are the first U21 team this season to progress to the 4^th Round. They were 4-2 winners over Concord at Dore Playing Fields. Mosborough U21 are the only other U21 team still alive in the cup, they play their 2^nd Round game against Crookes in January.

Both Ben Gelsthorpe and Jamie Roper scored twice for Jack-in-a-Box to help them to a 5-2 away win over Abbey Lane U21.

Tinsley Trophy 2^nd Round

Packhorse Inn were in impressive form at Niagra Sports Club, registering a 9-2 away win over Wadsley FC. Packhorse will now host SWD in the 3^rd Round in the new year.

Premier Division

The top two met at Warminster Road, with second placed Royal Earl hosting league leaders Rawson Spring. The game ended 1-1, so one point still separates the two but Rawson have played three less games.

Sharrow United topped-off a low-scoring day in the Premier Division, with a 1-0 home win mid-table Crookes. The win takes Sharrow up a place to third bottom.

Division Two

Bystrany Sheffield made it three consecutive wins, with a 3-1 home win over Woodhouse West End at Parsons Cross Park. Woodhouse won the reverse fixture 2-0 back on the opening day of the season.

U21 Division

James Archer scored a hat-trick for league leaders Sheffield United Junior Blades, as they beat Brampton Dynamos U21 6-2 at East End Park. The Blades are now 15 points clear, but they have played three games more than their nearest rivals Sharrow United U21. Sharrow were also in the goals at the weekend, as they beat Crosspool U21 away from home.

Double Top U21 registered their second consecutive win, with a dominant 8-1 win over Swallownest U21 at Whirlow Playing Field.

Round-up 24/11

Premier Division

Despite goals from Bradley Torr and James Middleton, Rawson Spring were held to a 2-2 draw at Frecheville Sports Club by Arundel. The draw ends a run of five successive victories by Rawson, who remain top-of-the-league.

Second placed Royal Earl were beaten 3-1 at home by Handsworth Turf Tavern. Handsworth have won four of their last five league games.

Daniel Flynn scored the only goal as Crookes beat fourth placed Hackenthorpe A at Swallownest Miners Welfare Ground.

The Devonshire were big 6-0 winners at Warminster Road over Wadsley Bridge WMC. The win means The Devonshire have completed the league double over Wadsley this season, and climb above Hackenthorpe A into third place.

Division One

Alex Rippon scored twice to help league leaders High Noon to a 6-1 win over Penistone Church at Davy Sports Club. High Noon have scored 41 goals in their eight league games this season.

Hurlfield remain two points off High Noon’s lead, following a 5-3 win over City Taxis at HSBC Sports Club.

Nathan Edwards scored a hat-trick for Concord, as they beat Intake Ball Inn 7-2 at Meadowhall Soccer School. Concord’s win ends a three game winless league run, and climb into fourth placed in the table.

Division Two

Bystrany Sheffield built on last weeks’ win over Wadsley, with a 7-2 home win over Ridgeway Athletic. The loss is Ridgeway’s first of the season, but they remain top-of-the-league.

Brandon Wilde was the hero for SWD as they beat second placed Woodhouse JFC 4-2 at Olive Grove. Wilde was in fine form, scoring a hat-trick.

U21 Division

Sheffield United Juniors Blades U21 extended their lead at the top of the U21 Division to 14 points, as they beat Swallownest U21 13-0 at East End Park. Andrew Gibbons starred for the Blades, with four goals to his name.

Abbey Lane U21 extended their unbeaten run to four league games, with a 4-1 home win over Brampton Dynamos U21.

Double Top U21 claimed their second win of the season, with a 3-2 win over Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 at Halfway Junior School. Double Top had lost their previous five league games.

League Cup 2^nd Round

Ashley Longstaff scored a hat-trick to help Hackenthorpe A to a 5-1 home win over Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 at Swallwonest Miners Welfare Ground.

Premier Division

There was just one game in the Premier Division, with Royal Earl beating Arundel 4-1 at Frecheville Sports and Social Club. The win takes Royal Earl onto 16 points, level with league leaders Rawson Spring, but they are in second place on goal difference.

Division One

Jack-in-a-Box missed an opportunity to take the lead in Division One, as they were held to an entertaining 4-4 draw by third placed Hurlfield at the SWD Ground. Jack-in-a-Box are only a point of leaders High Noon, who did not play on Sunday.

Hackenthorpe B are five games unbeaten in the league, after a big 6-2 win over struggling Intake Ball Inn at Warminster Road.

HSBC were back to winning ways against Penistone Church, winning 4-1 at the Memorial Ground thanks to goals from Simon Goodinson, Gareth Lloyd, Mat Hemsley and Fraser Morton.

Packhorse Inn are three games unbeaten in the league, after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Concord.

Division Two

James Thompson scored twice for third placed Mosborough, as they beat fourth placed Woodhouse West End at home.

Bystrany Sheffield ended a run of back-to-back league defeats, with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Wadsley at Niagra Sports Club. Wadsley remain winless in the league this season.

U21 Division

Sheffield United Juniors Blades U21 march on at the top of the U21 Division, after a 8-1 win over Crosspool U21 at Whirlow Playing Fields. The Junior Blades’ lead at the top is now up to 11 points after second placed Brunsmeer U21 were defeated 3-2 away against mid-table Wisewood Hounds U21.

Kennedid Ibrahim scored a hat-trick for Sharrow United U21 to inspire them to a 8-3 win over Double Top U21 at Sheffield United Redtooth Academy. Sharrow remain third and have won their last four league games in a row.

Abbey Lane are three league unbeaten following their 5-1 away win over Swallownest U21 at Burgoyne Park.

Matthew Ward scored six times for Brampton Dynamos U21, as they beat fourth placed Mosborough U21 at Wales High School.

Round-up 10/11

League Cup 2^nd Round

Abbey Lane U21 claimed the scalp of Division Two’s Masons Arms Langsett. It was an excellent game at Boundary Club, with Abbey Lane proceeding to Round Three with a 5-3 win, partly thanks to a Miles Howarth (1 pen).

Goals from Mark Ashton (3), Dominic Naughton (2), Lee Dexter, Gareth Wilkinson (2) and Lee Rodgers gave Arundel a comprehensive 9-0 away win over Double Top U21 at Halfway Junior School.

Darren Richardson scored twice to help Concord to a 4-2 home win over Brampton Dynamos U21 to reach the next round.

Tinsley Trophy 2^nd Round

Tinsley Trophy holders City Taxis were knocked-out of the cup at the hands of Penistone Church. They were beaten 2-0 at HSBC Sports Club by goals from Tim Council and Tom Adams.

Despite a hat-trick from Ridgeway Athletic’s Callum Paine, penalties were needed to separate Ridgeway and Bystrany Sheffield in an all Division Two tie. It was 3-3 after 120 minutes Ridgeway won the tie 4-3 on spot kicks.

SWD of Division Two knocked-out Division One’s Hackenthorpe B, with a 2-0 win at Swallownest Miners Welfare Ground.

Division One high-flyers Jack-in-a-Box saw-off Woodhouse Juniors FC 3-2 at Davy Sports Club.

Premier Division

Daniel Smith scored a hat-trick for Rawson Spring in their away match at Sharrow United. James Middleton (2) and Alex Torr (2) were also on the score-sheet for the Premier Division leaders in a 7-2 win over Sharrow United at Warminster Road. The win makes it five wins in a row for Rawson, who lead the table by three points.

Second placed Royal Earl were also victorious on Sunday. 29 year old Jamie Smith scored twice for the Earl, as they defeated Wadsley Bridge WMC 4-0 also at Warminster Road.

Handsworth Turf Tavern made it back-to-back wins for the first time in the league this season, as they beat Crookes 4-0 at Davy Sports Club.

Division One

It was a high-scoring day in the First Division. Firstly, High Noon were 8-3 winners away at HSBC Sports Club. Elliot Coles and John Hill both scored hat-tricks for High Noon, as they went above Jack-in-a-Box into first position.

Jamie Ledwood scored three times for Packhorse Inn to inspire them to an entertaining 6-4 victory over Hurlfield at the SWD Ground. The win is Packhorse’s second consecutive league win.

U21 Division

William Warhurst scored the only goal for league leaders Sheffield United Junior Blades U21 at Parson Cross Park as they beat Wisewood Hounds U21 1-0. The Blades are now eight clear in the U21 Division, and are currently on a seven game winning streak in the league.

Second placed Brunsmeer U21 maintained their unbeaten start to the league season, as they beat bottom placed side Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 7-2 at Dore Playing Fields.

Mosborough U21 were also big winners, with a 8-1 home win over Swallownest U21.  

Round-up 3/11

S&HCFA Senior Cup 3^rd Round

There was only one Meadowhall team in action in the Senior Cup third round on Sunday. Premier Division leaders continued their good form with a 2-1 victory over Aughton Robin Hood at the Civil Service Ground. Both of Rawson’s goals were scored by James Middleton.

League Cup 2^nd Round

Sheffield United Junior Blades U21 suffered their first loss of the season, as they were beaten 2-1 at Davy Sports Club by Jack-in-a-Box. David Gelsthorpe and Jamie Roper scored the crucial goals for Jack-in-a-Box.

Woodhouse JFC of the Second Division ran Division One outfit HSBC close. The two teams were level at 3-3 after 120 minutes, but HSBC won the game 4-3 on penalties.

Division Two leaders Ridgeway Athletic were beaten 5-2 at the SWD Ground by Hurlfield. 19 year old Kyle Emmott starred for Hurlfield scoring four times.

2011-12 winners Royal Earl progressed to round three with a 3-1 win over Mosborough at Warminster Road. Jamie Smith (2) and Daniel Wood scored the goals for the Earl.

Jordan Turner scored a hat-trick to help the Handsworth Turf Tavern to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Packhorse Inn at Thorncliffe Playing Fields.

SWD were big 7-0 winners at home to Wadsley. Brandon Wilde scored a hat-trick for the hosts to help them into round three.

Scott Ruthven notched a brace to help Brunsmeer Abbey AJW to a comfortable 3-0 win over Bystrany Sheffield at HSBC Sports Club. Steven Parry was also on target for Brunsmeer.

Brunsmeer U21 and Sharrow United U21 are second and third respectively in the U21 Division. Their similar league position was highlighted in their cup game on Sunday, won a close game 3-2.

Premier Division

There was just one Premier Division game, with Sharrow United travelling to Chaucer Sports Centre to face Wadsley Bridge WMC. Sharrow won the game 2-1 for their second league win of the season. Sharrow’s only previous league win came in the reverse fixture, which they won 8-1.

Division One

Ryan Armitage scored the only goal at HSBC Sports Club, as Hackenthorpe B beat City Taxis 1-0. The win takes Hackenthorpe’s unbeaten league streak to four games.

U21 Division

Crosspool U21 were 3-0 winners away at Burgoyne Park against Swallownest U21. Crosspool also won the reverse fixture 3-0 at the beginning of September.
