Round-up 2/2

Only two games were played on Sunday. In the Premier Division, Handsworth Turf Tavern saw-off Sharrow United 6-2 at Warminster Road. It is Handsworth's fifth win in their last six league games and takes them into fourth position in the table. In Division Two, Sharrow United's U21 side drew 3-3 at home with Crosspool U21. The draw ends a run of three straight league defeats for Sharrow.

All but one fixture was postponed on Sunday due to the wet weather. Only Crosspool U21's league game against Wisewood Hounds U21 at Whirlow Farm survived. Mid-table Wisewood won the game impressively 10-2 to claim their first win (in their first game of the year) of 2014.

There was one more game played between Sharrow United U21 and Brampton Dynamo's U21. Brampton took all three points with a 7-2 win, with the help of an hat-trick from Thomas Elliott.The win takes Brampton into second place, above Abbey Lane U21.

S&HCFA Senior Cup Quarter Final

21 year old Alex Torr starred for Rawson Spring, scoring a hat-trick, as they beat Brunsmeer Bradway AJW 6-3 at HSBC Sports Club. Cup advancement will come as a welcome bonus for Rawson Spring, who sit second place in the Premier Division.

Premier Division

Hackenthorpe A won their first league game since November, with a 3-2 win over The Devonshire at Warminster Road. The reverse fixture was also full of goals, with The Devonshire taking the points on that occasion with a 4-3 victory.

Division One

Packhorse Inn were 5-0 winners away against HSBC on Sunday, thanks to braces from both Paul Lavender and Niall Smith. Packhorse have lost only one of their last eight league games, and climb into second place with this win.

Two goals from Richard Ellin inspired City Taxis to an impressive 3-1 away win over high-flying Hurlfield. The loss means Hurlfield slip to third, and have lost two of their last three league games.

Tim Council was once again the difference for Penistone Church, scoring a four goal haul in their 6-2 win over struggling Intake Ball Inn at Warminster Road. Penistone Church remain second bottom flowing the win, but now sit four points in front of bottom-side Intake.

U21 Division

Abbey Lane U21 ended Sheffield United Junior Blades U21’s 13 game winning streak in the league, by holding them to a 2-2 draw at East End Park. It is only the second time that the Blades have dropped points (both draws) this season. However, the Blades are still 23 points clear of second placed Abbey Lane, but have played four games more.

Once again there were a number of postponements due to waterlogged pitches across South Yorkshire.

Premier Division

Brunsmeer Bradway AJW notched up their fourth consecutive league win, with a 2-1 win over The Devonshire at HSBC Sports Club. Brunsmeer sit in third place in the Premier Division, only one point behind leaders Royal Earl with two games in hand.

Crookes climb into fifth position in the table, with a comfortable 4-1 win over Sharrow United at Warminster Road. Even though they are in fifth place, Crookes are only two points behind the leaders, and have a game spare.

Division One

League leaders High Noon heaped more woe on struggling Intake Ball Inn, beating them 10-0 at Warminster Road. It is the second consecutive 10-0 home loss for Intake, but is an improvement on the 14 they conceded in the reverse fixture against High Noon in October.

Hurlfield are High Noon’s closest challengers, following their 2-1 away win over Penistone Church. Hurlfield trail the leaders by five points, and the two rivals are yet to face each other in the league this season.

U21 Division

It was not unlucky for Sheffield United Junior Blades U21, as they registered their 13^th consecutive league win at Burgoyne Park on Sunday. The Blades were 5-2 winners over Swallownest U21 and extended their lead at the top of the U21 Division to a whopping 23 points. The Blades have only dropped two points in their 16 league games thus far.

Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 claimed their first league win of the season, with a 5-1 victory over mid-table Double Top U21. Andrew Swift starred for Hackenthorpe, scoring three goals. The win is enough to lift Hackenthorpe off the foot of the table, and above Swallownest U21.

Matthew Ward scored a brace for Brampton Dynamos U21 at Whirlow Farm, as they beat Crosspool U21 4-0. The win takes Brampton up to fourth in the standings.

S&HCFA Senior Cup 5th Round
Rawson Spring continued their good season, with a 3-0 Senior Cup 5th Round win over Royston Ring O'Bells at the Civil Service Ground. 21 year old Alex Torr scored two of the goals for Rawson Spring, who currently reside in second place in the Premier Division.

Premier Division
The Devonshire were 2-0 winners over Handsworth Turf Tavern at Warminster Road. Handsworth had won the reverse fixture 1-0 back on the 8th December. However, this win takes The Devonshire up to third in the table, only two points off the lead with a game spare.

Brunsmeer Abbey made it three successive league wins, with a comfortable 5-1 home win over Sharrow United. Both Ben Furniss and Jack Hargreaves bagged braces for the hosts, as they climbed to fourth in the table.

Division One
Paul Lavender scored a hat-trick to inspire Packhorse Inn to an emphatic 10-0 away win over Intake Ball Inn. Intake had registered their first points of the season in their last two games, but this leaves them stuck at the foot of the Division One table. In paradox Packhorse are up to third, only four points behind leaders High Noon.

Division Two
Mosborough strengthened their grip on second spot in Division Two, with a 4-1 away win over SWD. Mosoborough have won all their last four league games, but remain five points behind leaders Ridgeway Athletic with two games in hand.

U21 Division
Double Top U21 and Crosspool U21 played-out an amazing 5-5 draw at Halfway Junior School. The teams have nearly identical league records thus farm sitting on 13 points. Double Top have played a game more though, and sit above Crosspool on goal difference only.

Brampton Dynamos U21 recorded their third consecutive league win, with a comfortable 8-2 win over Swallownest U21 at Wales High School.

There were no games this Sunday in the Meadowhall League, so that's it for 2013. All at the Meadowhall League would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the New Year!

Round-up 22/12

There were a number of postponements on Sunday, and sadly only seven games went ahead.

Premier Division
Here was just one top division, with Crookes hosting The Devonshire. Crookes took the three points, with a 4-2 win. Crookes also won when the two met in the reverse fixture (1-0) back in September. The win takes Crookes to fifth place in the table, but they are joint on points with the third placed Devonshire.

Division One
Second placed Hackenthorpe B were beaten at home 2-1 by mid-table HSBC. The loss ends a run of four successive league wins for Hackenthorpe, and they remain thee points off the pace.

Jack-in-a-Box climbed to third place, with an impressive 4-1 away win over Packhorse Inn. They are now four points behind leaders High Noon. Jack-in-a-Box have scored four goals in three of their last three league games.

Andrew Taylor grabbed a brace for City Taxis, as they held  Intake Ball Inn to a 2-2 draw at Warminster Road. Intake Ball Inn won heir first points of the season last week with a 3-2 win over HSBC and this point helps them go joint on points with second-bottom Penistone Church.

Division Two
Third hosted first place at Handsworth Grange School, with Woodhouse JFC hosting Ridgeway Athletic. An entertaining game ensued, but neither team could be split as the game ended 2-2. Ridgeway remain eight points clear at the summit..

U21 Division
Both Ryan Bothamly and Sam Renshaw scored hat-tricks for the Double Top U21 in their 6-2 win over Crosspool U21, as they went into the holiday season on the back of three consecutive league wins.

Abbey Lane U21 stretched their unbeaten league run to six games, with a 7-3 win over Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 at Waterthorpe Playing Fields. The win takes Abbey Lane into third position in the table.
