Round-up 2/9


The Meadowhall league started again last Sunday. This year also sees the return of the U21 Division for a second season, with twelve teams it promises to be even better this time out.

Premier Division
Two goals from Ashley Longstaff helped Hackenthorpe A to the perfect start against High Noon. The defending champions ran out 3-1 winners against their close rivals at Davy Sports Club.

Royal Earl made it clear they would once again be contenders, as they won comfortably 3-0 against Greenhill White Hart. The goals for Royal Earl came from Ryan Hindley, Daniel Cardwell and Scott Bates.

Paul Turner and Russell Hobson scored the vital goals as the Handsowrth Turf Tavern claimed a solid 2-0 away victory over newly promoted Brunsmeer Abbey.

Mark West was the difference as the Arundel beat Wadsley Bridge WMC at Chaucer Sports Centre. West scored both goals in an excellent performance by Arundel on their return to the top flight.

Division One
Ryan Cartledge started the new season in is same old form, scoring three goals as Arbourthorne EA saw-off Woodhouse JFC comfortably 5-1.

Nathan Reid scored three times for Winn Gardens in their 4-0 away win over Ridgeway Athletic. Paul Wake was also on target.

Jack-in-a-Box and Hackenthorpe B shared seven goals between them at Davy Sports Club. Despite 22 year old David Cowley scoring three times for Jack-in-a-Box; he still ended on the losing side, as his side lost narrowly 4-3.

HSBC were just edged out 2-1 at home by Division Two Champions Rawson Spring 2-1 at home.

Intake Ball Inn were comfortable 4-0 winners over Penistone Church at Warminster Road.

Division Two
Two new teams, Hurlfield and Bystrany Sheffield, met at the SWD ground. Lee Savage scored an hat-trick for Hurlfield to help is team to a convincing 5-1 win.

Marshall was on target for City Taxis (Stradbroke) in their 6-1 win over Cricketers 2012 at Handsworth Grange School.

FC Darnall and Norton Athletic shared the spoils, following a competitive 2-2 draw.

A Ryan Stones hat-trick inspired Hackenthorpe Villa to a 6-2 win over Wadsley FC at Reignhead Farm.

U21 Division
It was a busy day in the U21 Division with 46 goals across six matches. The standout reulst was a 9-4 win for Woodhouse JFC U21's over Crosspool Juniors U21's at East End Park.

Not to be outdone, Throstle's U21's beat Swallownest U21's 7-3 at Sheffield Park Academy.

Hollinsend U21's shone on their debut, with an emphatic 10-0 away win over Hackenthorpe Warriors U21's. Both Sam Wright and Connor Rodgers were on the scoresheet twice.

Aiden Cooper was on target three times for Swinton Spartans U21's in their 5-0 win over Sharrow United U21's.

John Pugh scored twice to help Dronfield Town U21's to a hardfought win over win over Sheffield FC U21's. The defending champions won the game 3-1.

Goals from Daniel Jones, Connor Wright and Thomas Heap gave Greaseborough U21's a 3-1 win over Abbey Lane U21's.
