League Cup 1st Round
There was one game in the League Cup First Round, with HSBC of the First
Division hosting Second Division opposition in the form of Woodhouse West End.
In the end, HSBC's higher league position proved vital, winning 5-1.
Premier Division
Bradley Torr and Daniel Smith were on target for Rawson Spring, in their
2-0 home win over Sharrow United at the Civil Service Ground. The win is the
promoted sides’ fourth in succession, and takes them to the summit of the Premier
Division.
After a good start to the season, Royal Earl suffered their second
consecutive defeat on Sunday. They were beaten 4-2 at home to Hackenthorpe A at
Warminster Road. Hackenthorpe climb into fourth position, with their third win
in the first four games of their season.
23 year old Scott Ruthven scored a hat-trick for Brunsmeer Abbey AFW, to
help them to an impressive 4-0 home win over Arundel.
Jordan Turner proved to be the difference between Wadsley Bridge WMC and
Handsworth Turf Tavern, scoring twice as Handsworth won 2-0.
Elsewhere, Crookes followed up last weeks’ win over Royal Earl, by beating
The Devonshire 1-0 at Warminster Road.
Division One
City Taxis were held to a 1-1 at Davy Sports Club by High Noon. However,
the point was enough to take City Taxis to the top-of-the-league, as Jack-in-a-Box
suffered their first defeat of the season. Jack-in-a-Box’s scalp was taken by
Concord, who took the points with a hard-fought 3-2 win.
Hackenthorpe B registered their first win of the season, with a 4-2 victory
over Intake Ball Inn at Swallownest Miners Welfare Ground.
Division Two
Ridgeway Athletic lead the way in the Second Division, after an exciting
7-4 home win over Wadsley. 20 year old Ashden Morley was on target four times
for Woodhouse.
Joe Bland scored a hat-trick to help Woodhouse JFC to an emphatic 8-0 home
win over Mosborough. They sit only a point off the league. SWD also scored
eight, beating Cricketers 2012 8-1 at the SWD Ground.
Goals from Dominik Pacan, Martin Pecha, Vaclav Ziga and Marek Ziga gave
Bystrany Sheffield a comfortable 4-0 away win over Masons Arms Langsett.
U21 Division
League leaders Sheffield United Junior Blades U21 cemented their place at
the top of the U21 Division, with a 2-0 away win over third placed Mosborough
U21. Christopher Winters and Bradley Bowland scored the vital goals for the
league leaders.
Danny Phelan scored four goals to help Wisewood Hounds U21 to a 7-0 victory
over Double Top U21 at Parson’s Cross Park.
Sheffield Spartans U21 recorded their first win of the season in style at
Herringhtorpe Valley Playing Fields. A flood of goals gave them a 8-2 win over
Hackenthorpe Warriors U21.
