Round-up 20/10

League Cup 1st Round
Premier Division leaders Rawson Spring transferred their excellent league form into the League Cup on Sunday, with a comprehensive 10-0 win over Mosborough U21 at the Civil Service Ground. 22 year old Andrew Gascoigne was the star for Rawson Spring with four goals on the day.

Packhorse Inn of Division One caused a shock, with a 4-1 win over Premier Division side Wadsley Bridge WMC. The result compounds a poor start to the season for Wadsley, which has seen them lose their opening five league games to date.

Tinsley Trophy 1st Round
Woodhouse JFC once again got the best of Mosborough Miners Welfare, with a 4-0 away victory on Sunday. Woodhouse beat Mosborough 8-0 in the league, a little over three weeks ago.

Extra-time was needed to separate City Taxis and Hurlfield at the HSBC Sports Club. The score was 3-3 at the end of 90 minutes, but City Taxis scored twice in extra-time to clinch their place in the 2nd Round.

Goals from Brandon Wilde, Craig Smith and James Houghton were enough to give SWD a 3-0 away win over Woodhouse West End.

U21 League Cup 1st Round
Sharrow United U21 continued their good recent form, with a 4-0 win over Wisewood Hounds U21 at Parson’s Cross Park. Nigel Masiya scored two of those goals for Sharrow.

Abbey Lane U21 claimed a 2-1 away win over Brunsmeer FC U21. The two sides will meet again in the league next week, with Abbey Lane hosting this time.

Crosspool U21 had no problems booking their place in Round 2, as they registered a 4-1 win over Sheffield Spartans U21 at Whirlow Playing Field.

Premier Division
The Devonshire scored a last minute winner to beat Royal Earl 3-2 at Warminster Road. The win is Devonshire’s third in four league games, and takes them into third place in the table.

Aaron Moxam and Michael Golland were both on target for Brunsmeer Abbey AJW, as they beat Crookes 2-1 at HSBC Sports Club. The victory takes Brunsmeer Abbey into fourth place.

Nathan Reid scored four times (twice from the penalty spot) to inspire Handsworth Turf Tavern to an impressive 7-2 home victory over Sharrow United.

Division One
It was a high-scoring day in Division One. Firstly, league leaders Jack-in-a-Box were held to a 4-4 draw away against Hackenthorpe B. Also HSBC made it three win from their last four league games, with an entertaining 5-4 over Concord at Meadowhall Soccer School.

Division Two
Ridgeway Athletic extended their lead in Division Two to seven points, with a narrow 1-0 home win over Bystrany Sheffield. Ridgeway have only dropped two points from the first 24 available to them.

Delroy Robinson scored twice to help Cricketer 2012 to a 3-2 win over Masons Arms Langsett. The win ends a run of four consecutive league defeats.

U21 Division
Sheffield United Junior Blades U21 made it five consecutive league victories on Sunday. However, they were made to work hard for it, as they beat Brampton Dynamos U21 5-4 at Wales High School. The Junior Blades have a nine point lead in the U21 Division, but second placed Brunsmeer FC U21 do have three games spare.

Swallownest U21 grabbed their first win of the season, as they beat Hackenthorpe Warriors U21 6-4 at Burgoyne Park. The win lifts Swallownest off the foot-of-the-table and above Hackenthorpe.
