16/12 Round Up

Sheffield & Hallmshire FA Senior Cup 5th Round
The Meadowhall League had a mixed bag of things in the Senior Cup on Sunday, with two teams progessing, but three teams departing the competition.

Starting with bad news, the Arundel were beat convincingly 5-0 at home by the Joker. Handsoworth Turf Tavern were also beaten, as they fell 4-3 away against Lundwood FC after extra-time.

Goals from Lewis Eshelby and Thomas Griffin helped Division One Leaders Arbourthorne EA to a 2-0 win over Premier Division Brunsmeer Abeey AJW at Warminster Road. They will be hoping to go one further than their 2010-11 final loss in this competition, and have won every game in all competitions so far this season.

Finally, Royal Earl put behind them their disappointing league form, by beating Hemsworth Miners Welfare. Scott Bates was on target twice for last years’ League Cup winners to help them into the hat for the 6th Round.

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Junior Cup 5th Round
Hurlfield are second placed in Division Two and went into their Junior Cup 5th Round tie with Ashfield on the back of four straight league wins. They were able to translate that form into this match, with an impressive 12-1 win at Olive Grove (SWD). Jason Scott scored four of the goals, with Brett Spanksman and Rocky Thompson grabbing two goals apiece. Ryan Ducker, Ryan Kavanagh, Ryan Morris, Brandon Wilde and John Bramhall were also on the score-sheet in a great win.

Tinsley Trophy 1st Round
Bystrany Sheffield came out on top in the all Second Division tie with Mosborough B at the Civil Service Ground. They took the tie 3-1 to move into the second round, where they will host HSBC.

Premier Division
There was just one game in the Premier Division, between Sharrow United and Greenhill White Hart. Sharrow United took the game 3-1, and in the process ended a run of three successive league defeats. They are up to fifth in the table.

Division One
Hackenthorpe B trimmed a point off league leaders Arbourthorne EA's lead to four points, as they drew 3-3 with Penistone Church at Reignhead Farm. Sadly for Hackenthorpe they have played four games more than Arbourthorne.

Nathan Reid scored a hat-trick for Winn Gardens to inspire them to a 4-2 over HSBC. They now sit one point off second place, with a game to spare.

Division Two
Jordan Marshall and Ryan Smith both scored hat-tricks for City Taxis (Stradbroke), as they beat Wadsley FC 10-0 at the HSBC Sports Club. The win extends City Taxis' lead at-the-top of Division Two to three points.

U21 Division
Throstles U21's lost their first league game of the season at the hands of Abbey Lane U21's at the Boundary Club. The win for Abbey Lane takes them joint on points with second placed Throstles, who now only lead them on superior goal differential.

Greasebrough U21's extended their unbeaten league run to four matches, with hard-fought 3-2 away win over Crosspool Juniors U21's at Limb Lane.

Hackenthorpe Warriors U21's won their first league game in style, as they beat Swallownest U21's 7-2 at Burgoyne Park. Hackenthorpe's goals came from Andy Swift (2), Karl Garratty, Tom Howcutt, Tom Sharp, Connor Ward and 16 year old Callum Cousins.
