Round-up 29/1

League Cup
Premier League Leaders Hackenthorpe A were inspired by a Jamie Sampson hat-trick. They beat Division outfit 4-2 in the Second Round of the League Cup at Davy's Sports Club.

Premier Divison
Royal Earl extended their winning streak to three games with a 3-2 victory over High Noon. The win takes the Royal Earl into second place, above the High Noon, only three points off the lead.

Crookes would have taken second place had they won, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to the Handsworth Turf Tavern.

Goals from Lees, Crick and Beech gave Greenhill White hart back-to-back league wins for the first time this season. They beat Packhorse Inn 3-1 at Thorncliffe Playing Fields.

Division One
Two goals each from Chris Spooner and Lee Dexter helped the Arundel reclaim top spot. They ran out convincing 4-1 winners against Intake Ball Inn.

Wadsley Bridge WMC won their first league game since September, when they just edged out Arbourthorne EA B 3-2 at Warminster Road.

Division Two
It was a rare complete fixture list in Division Two, with the highlight coming at Oughtibridge Operations, where the leaders Rawson Spring beat Hackenthorpe B 4-1. Todd Jordan and Daniel Smith both scored twice for the Rawson Spring.

Second placed Winn Gardens also won to make it six league games undefeated. They beat mid-table Hackenthorpe Villa 3-2 away from home.

Two goals from Tim Council inspired Penistone Church to a 2-1 over City Taxis New Inn. The win helps Penistone consolidate third place in the table.

Heeley reeped more misery on bottom placed Mosborough B, as they defeated them 4-3. Mosobrough B remain on only one win for this season thus far.

Ridgeway Athletic put three points between themselves and Mosborough B, when they beat Norton Oaks A 4-2 for their first win of the season.

Division Three
Three goals from Ben Putland helped Woodhouse Juniors consolidate their leading position. They were convincing 6-0 winners over Staffordshire Arms.

Carlton Social made it five league wins-in-a-row, with the 4-1 defeat of the Barrel Inn. They sit in second, seven points back from the lead.

U21 Division
There was a big game in the U21 Division at Gosforth Fields, where Dronfield Town U21's made a huge statement in their title challenge. Joe Butler, Daniel Wood and Michael Shaw all scored twice in their impressive 7-0 victory over second placed Sharrow United U21's. Dronfield now sit six points clear at the top of the U21 Division, in its maiden season.


Ryan Bates scored twice for Throstles U21's in a 4-3 victory over Greasebrough U21's at Davy's Sports Club. Throstles climb off the bottom with the win.

Round-up 22/1

Cup Round-up
Things got back to normal this weekend in the Meadowhall League, after bad weather last week led to the postponement of all but two games.

Wadsley Bridge WMC progressed in the Senior cup following a nine goal thriller against JSS Pot. Wadsley won the game 5-4 to move into the Semi-Finals of the competition.

The Meadowhall teams in the Junior were not as lucky though. Despite a goal from Oliver Haywood, City Taxis New Inn were beat 4-1 by Hatfield Celtic. Penistone Church were also knocked out by Memories. The scores were level at 3-3 after 120 minutes, but Memories came out as winner 5-4 on penalties.

In the League Cup, goals from Kurtis Hodder (2) and Karlda Lewin gave Heeley a 3-0 away win over Sharrow United U21's. Division One leaders Arundel gave Handsworth Turf Tavern a run for their money, but a penalty from Russell Hobson and Paul Turner strike was enought to see the Premier Division outift through.

There was a shock in the U21 Cup, as Under 21 Division side Norton Oaks U21's beat the African Dream Team of the Third Division comfortably 3-0. Goals from Matthew Scothorne and Conor Merrison (2) were enough to put the youngsters into the Second Round.

Premier Division
Hackenthorpe A climbed to the summit of the Premier Division with an excellent 3-1 win over Packhorse Inn. The vital goals for Hackenthorpe came from Cole Hattersley, Carlos Forbes and Jamie Sampson.

High Noon relinquished their hold on first place following a narrow 1-0 loss to third placed Crookes at Warminster Road.

Last years' winners Roal Earl carried on their rise, by beating Mosborough A 2-1 at the Phoenix Sports and Social Club. Scott Bates and Darren Schofield grabbed the goals for the Earl.

A Philip Miskell penalty was enough to give Greenhill White Hart a 1-0 win over Sharrow United. The loss is Sharrow's third in succession.

Division One
Joseph Highfield grabbed the winner for Brunsmeer Abbey, as they beat Beighton Magpies 1-0 at the HSBC Sports Club. The win takes Brunsmeer above the Arundel and into first place in the table.

Two goals from Hanson inspired Intake Ball Inn to a 3-1 away win over the HSBC. HSBC climb to third with the win.


Division Two
Goalless draws are a rare occurence in Sunday League football, but lightning struck twice in the Second Division as both scheduled games ended scoreless. Firstly, leaders Rawson Spring were held by Winn Gardens at Ferrars Road. Winn Gardens did move into second with the point, but remain four points off the lead.

Ridgeway Athletic climbed off the bottom of the table, as they drew 0-0 away to mid-table Hackenthorpe B.

Division Three
There was a big game in the Third Division, where leaders Woodhouse Juniors hosted third placed Centre Spot. Carter Mpwaya won the match for Woodhouse, scoring both the goals in a 2-1 win.

Welsey Hewitt scored an amazing five goals in Carlton Social's 6-3 defeat of FC Darnall. Carlton consolidted their second place position with the win, but FC Darnall remain fixed in last place.

Under 21 Division
Dronfield Town U21's moved three points clear at the top of the U21 Division, after they beat Dronfield Athletic U21's 3-0 at Graves Park.

Samuel Wilkinson scored an hat-trick for Greasebrough U21's against Mosborough U21's, but it was not enough to give his team the win, as they were held to an exciting 4-4 draw.

Round-up 15/1

Technology saved the day in the Meadowhall League on Sunday, after the bad weather in the South Yorkshire region brought numerous pitches to the fore. Two games did take place, but only thanks to 3G pitches.

Carlton Social beat Mosborough U21's 3-1 at Springs Academy in the U21 Cup. The first half was goalless, but a volley of action finished with Carlton 3-1 winners. Boyle, Swift and Hewitt grabbed the goals for Carlton to take them into Second Round of the competition.

The other game took place at Gosforth Fields, where Dronfield Town U21's beat Throstles U21's 5-0 in the U21 Division. There were five different goalscorers for Dronfield, these being Richard Hirst, Michael Shaw, Callum Mawbuy, Tom Collier and Liam Hogg.

Round-up 8/1

Happy New Year from all at the Meadowhall League. Action returned today after a two week festive break.

Tinsley Trophy Round One
We start our round-up in the Tinsley Trophy, where their was just one first round tie taking place. This came at Olive Grove, where Heeley FC saw off Mosborough U21 4-0. Twenty one year old Richard Mason grabbed a brace for Heeley.


Premier Division
High Noon moved joint top of the Premier Division after they beat Sharrow United 3-2. The vital goals for High Noon came from Lanzel Reid, Alex Rippon and Chris Barnes.

Third placed Crookes played out a hardfought 1-1 draw with Greenhill White Hart at Warminster Road. The result leaves Crookes five point back from the lead.

Last years' Champions Royal Earl returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over the Packhorse Inn. Scott Bates and Daniel Cardwell on the score-sheet for the Royal Earl.

A single goal from Paul Turner gave the handsworth Turf Tavern an excellent 1-0 away win over Mosborough A.


Division One
The game of the day in Division One came at Warminster Road, where the Intake Ball Inn and the Arbourthorne EA B shared nine goals. Liam Cartledge grabbed four of them for himself to swing the game in the Arbourthorne's favour. His goals were complimented one from Robert Aspinall and another from Steven Brammer to give the Arbourthorne a 6-3 win and a much-needed three points.

Leaders Arundel consolidated their position with a hardfought 2-1 away win over the Jack-in-a-Box.
However, they do not have much room to breathe as the Brunsmeer Abbey also won. A double from Matthew Clarke inspred them to a 4-1 win over HSBC and keep them on twenty points with the Arundel.

Division Two
Bottom side Ridgeway Athletic saw themselves unlucky, as they were downed 2-1 by promotion chasing Penistone Church. Gareth Brown and Scott Briggs grabbed the winning goals for Penistone.

Winn Gardens sit just ahead of Penistone on goal difference, after their 3-0 defeat of Mosborough B at Ferrars Road. Christian Gass was in impressive form scoring twice for Winn Gardens.

Two goals from Jordan Wrigley gave Hackenthorpe Villa a 2-0 win over Norton Oaks A. The win moves Hackenthorpe into a nice mid-table position.

U21 Division
Norton Oaks U21 just edged an exciting encounter with Throstles U21 at Davy Sports Club. Connor Merrison scored twice for Norton, as did Ryan Bates for the Throstles.
