Round-up 24/2


League Cup 3rd Round
Rawson Spring were convincing 8-1 winners over Division Two’s Mosborough B at the Civil Service Ground. The win takes Rawson Spring into the Quarter-finals. They will face Dronfield Town U21’s next week.

Under 21 League Cup
Greasborough U21’s defeated Hackenthorpe Warriors U21’s 8-5 in the Second Round of the Under 21 League Cup. Daniel Jones starred for Greasborough, scoring a hat-trick. Greasborough will take on Under 21 Division League leaders Sheffield FC U21’s in the Semi-finals on Sunday 17th March.

Premier Division
Matthew Ellis scored the only goal, as Handsworth Turf Tavern beat Sharrow United at Davy Sports Club. The Turf Tavern climbed back to the top of the Premier Division, as last weeks’ leaders Crookes were held to a 1-1 draw by Hackenthorpe A.

Royal Earl won their first league game since September. They were emphatic 4-1 winners over Brunsmeer Abbey AJW at HSBC Sports Club. The win lists them into fourth bottom position.

Arundel were also back to winning ways. They were 4-0 winners over Packhorse Inn at Frecheville Sports & Social Club.

Sam Read scored twice for Greenhill White Hart to help them to a 4-1 home win over Wadsley Bridge WMC. The defeat is Wadsley Bridge’s first in the league since Sunday 9th September.

Division One
Arbourthorne EA were in league action for the first time since November on Sunday, due to their cup commitments and poor weather. They beat Hackenthorpe B 3-1 away from home to take back top spot.

It was first versus third at Meadowhall Soccer School, with Winn Gardens taking on Penistone Church. Three goals from Daniel Howes helped settle the game 7-3 in Penistone’s favour, and in the process takes them into second place.

Intake Ball Inn ended a run of three straight league defeats, with 4-2 victory over HSBC at Warminster Road.

David Gelsthorpe struck three times for Jack-in-a-Box, as they beat Ridgeway Athletic 5-2 at Davy Sports Club. The win is Jack-in-a-Box’s fourth-in-a-row in the league.

Division Two
Bystrany Sheffield kept up their good recent form, as they held second placed Hurlfield to a 3-3 draw at the Civil Service Ground. Bystrany are unbeaten in the league since September, and lie in third position.

Norton Athletic registered a second consecutive win. This time it came with a 4-3 win over Wadlsey FC at Handsworth Grange School.

Delroy Robinson scored both goals for Cricketers 2012 in their 2-1 win over SWD. The win is enough to take SWD off the bottom and above Wadlsey FC.

Under 21 Division
There were three games in the Under 21 Division and three 6-1 wins/losses.

Three goals from Mitchell Forster for Throstles U21’s in their 6-1 away win over Swinton Spartans U21’s. The win takes Throstles into second place behind leaders Sheffield FC U21’s.

Ryan Smith fired a hat-trick for Woodhouse JFC U21’s, as they beat Swallownest U21’s 6-1 at Flockton Park.

Hollinsend U21’s made it three straight victories. They followed up last weeks’ 7-0 win over Crosspool Juniors U21’s, with a 6-1 win over Sharrow United U21’s. They sit in fourth, only two points off second place.
