Round-up 7/4


It was a weekend of Semi-Finals in the Meadowhall League, with four such games taking place involving Meadowhall League teams.

S&HCFA Senior Cup Semi-Final
First Division side Arbourthorne EA held Handsworth Turf Tavern to a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes. However, Handsworth booked their place in the final with a 6-5 victory on penalties.

League Cup 3rd Round
Hackenthorpe A secured a Quarter-Final place in the League Cup, by beating Woodhouse Juniors 3-1 at Handsworth Grange School. That Quarter-Final comes later this week at home to Arundel.

League Cup Semi-Final
Rawson Spring edged an exciting Semi-Final 3-2 against Packhorse In. The win came after extra-time.

Tinsley Trophy Semi-Final
Veteran Ryan Higginbottam scored three times (1 pen) to fire City Taxis (Stradbroke) into the Final of the Tinsley Trophy, with a 4-1 win over Winn Gardens.

Under 21 League Cup Semi-Final
Dronfield Town U21’s were convincing winners over Woodhouse Juniors FC U21’s. Braces from John Pugh and Liam Hogg (2 pens) helped Dronfield to a 5-0 win at Flockton Park.

Premier Division
Sharrow United ended Royal Earl’s five game unbeaten league run, when they beat them 3-1 at Warminster Road.

Wadsley Bridge WMC were back to winning ways, as they edged-out High Noon 2-1 to help strengthen their third place position.

Greenhill White Hart and Brunsmeer Abbey AJW played-out a 1-1 draw at Warminster Road.

Division One
Intake Ball Inn racked-up their biggest win of the season, beating Ridgeway Athletic 7-2 at Warminster Road. The win keeps them in a mid-table position.

James Ruthven scored three times to inspire Hackenthorpe B to an exciting 6-3 win over HSBC.

Division Two
Hurlfield were big 12-1 winners over Crickets 2012 at the SWD Ground. Hurlfields’s goals came from Brandon Wilde (4), Jason Scott (3), John Bramhall (2), Lee Savage, Ricky Thompson and Matt Daley.

Harry O’Neill scored the only goal as SWD beat Bystrany Sheffield 1-0 at the Civil Service Ground.

Mosborough B claimed their second win in three days, with a 3-1 home victory over Hackenthorpe Villa.

U21 Division
Third placed Greasborough U21’s were 1-0 winners against the league leaders Sheffield FC U21’s at Roughwood Fields. Danny Archer was the only scorer. The day did not get any better for Sheffield, with second placed Throstles U21’s winning 7-0 against Hackenthorpe Warriors U21’s. Perry Jackson starred for Throstles, scoring three times. Sheffield now only lead the division on goal difference.

Both Matt Megson and Robert Troughton scored twice to help Abbey Lane U21’s to a 7-2 away win over Swinton Spartans U21’s.

Sharrow United recorded their third win in five league games, as they beat Crosspool Juniors 6-3 at Limb Lane.
